ERIC KOKISH
Mr. Eric O. Kokisch was born 1947 of Montreal, Canada. He is a Bridge Professional, a Bridge writer and magazine contributor, a Bridge teacher and coach, and a successful Bridge player.
Mr. Eric O. Kokisch has held or holds several positions, such as serving as the Judiciary chairman for District 1, which is comprised of the Canadian Province of New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and a portion of Eastern Ontario. He also represents or has represented the Zone II Canadian Bridge Federation, which the visitor can find at: http://www.cbf.ca/. He has served as President of Unit 151, which is known as the Montreal Bridge League, and as the Coordinator for the GN Teams for District 1, and is a member of the National Goodwill Committee.
Among his many achievements are: Contributor and Writer for the World Championship Books, Editor for the Melange de Bridge, a review of which can be found at: http://www.bridgeworld.com/reviews/reviewofxmel7.html, the newspaper for Unit 151, writer and contributor for the weekly bridge column for the Montreal Gazette, Associate Editor for the International Popular Bridge World, Director of the Master Solvers Club for The Bridge World, Contributor of bridge articles for the ACBL Bulletin, The Bridge World, IMP Magazine in Holland, and for other bridge publications around the world.
Mr. Eric O. Kokisch has authored several conventions which include the Kokish Relay, Reject, Kokish Rebids after 1D-2C, and the Montreal Relay.
His awards include the Bols Brilliancy Prize in 1980 and the Romex Best Bid Hand Award. He is a World Bridge Federation Life Master. Mr. Eric Kokish is the ACBL Honorary Member of the Year for the Year 2002.

1995 - Beijing, China. For the first time in the history of the Bermuda Bowl, two North American teams met in the final. These championships were marked by tremendous press and TV coverage including the live broadcasting of the semi-final and the final on CCTV.

The USA (Dick Freeman, Robert Hamman, Jeff Meckstroth, Nick Nickell, Eric Rodwell, Robert S. Wolf and Edgar Kaplan as non-playing captain) defeated Canada (Boris Baran, Fred Gitelman, Eric Kokish, George Mittelman, Mark Molson, Joseph Silver and Litvak Irving as non-playing captain) by 338-295. The bronze medal went to France.

Daily News From Iceland
The annual Reykjavík bridge meet continues to break attendance records as a new arrangement has made it possible to increase the number of pairs to 120, and of those 35 come from outside Iceland. The Icelandair team meet looks set to break the 100-team mark.

Among those arriving from outside of Iceland are the Canadians Eric Kokish and Joe Silver, who will be coming to the country for the first time. Kokish is one of the world's foremost bridge journalists and is also a sought-after trainer. Prior to the world championships in China, for instance, he assisted the national teams of six countries and played on the Canadian national team, which landed in second place.

Also arriving from Canada is Georg Mittelman. He will be partnered with Rita Shugart, who played in last year's meet in Reykjavík. On their team will be Zia Mahmood, who will be partnered with the Dane Lars Blasket.
